Canadian Dental Care Plan

Understand your CDCP options before your visit.

The Canadian Dental Care Plan helps cover part of the cost of eligible oral-health services for qualifying Canadian residents. Coverage and patient costs depend on individual eligibility and plan rules.

Eligibility overview

Who may qualify for the CDCP?

Current federal eligibility requirements include having no access to private dental insurance, filing applicable Canadian tax returns, having adjusted family net income below $90,000 and being a Canadian resident for tax purposes.

Eligibility rules may change. Confirm your status and application details directly with the Government of Canada.

Before your appointment

1Confirm that your CDCP coverage is active.
2Have your member information available when you call.
3Ask about estimated coverage and possible out-of-pocket costs.
4Discuss whether any service requires preauthorization.
Covered services

CDCP may contribute toward a range of care

Depending on eligibility, clinical need, frequency limits and preauthorization requirements, covered categories may include examinations, X-rays, cleanings, fluoride, fillings, root canals, dentures, extractions and other services.

Coverage is not always 100%.
Patients may have a co-payment or pay the difference between CDCP fees and the clinic’s fees. Our team will help explain available estimates before treatment.
